Just like that, it's November. It all hit you, the promise you made back in September to be the house to host Thanksgiving this year...don't panic! Deep breaths. We are here to help!

There's more to hosting a party than cleaning your house, and we know the thought of that is stressful since along with cleaning and the massive dinner you are about to put together, it's hard to even fathom having to decorate the house. They key here, focus on the things that your guests will remember. It's easy to get caught up doing things that won't really matter -- things your guests won't see or even notice. I am EXTREMELY guilty of this. My own wedding that was one of the things I wish I would of remembered. It's hard, you want the best experience for your guests, so you feel every little detail is important. Details are, but the right ones make all the difference.

With that, let's talk about the key focal points to focus on decor wise, to spruce up your home, that will make that impact you are hoping for your party!

Tip 1: First Impressions

What is the first things guests see when they arrive? Is it your foyer/entryway? Is it the front porch? Whatever one it is, this should be TOP priority for cleaning and styling.

One item to consider, is that because this potentially could be outside. The time of day is important to consider. That should influence your decor choices.

If it's an evening event, thing of candles or even lanterns to

light the way and set a relaxing mood for your guests. String lights can also be a fun way to mix up the decor, and bonus you could leave this up!

Don't have a porch? No problem. If you have decent size foyer or entryway, this is a nice place to also welcome your guests into your home.

A good start is to have a place for them to store their shoes, bags and coats. This could be a coat closet or rack or a bench or chair to set items on. If it is a large entryway, consider a table for a little 'welcome appetizer' or even just a welcome note to greet your guests. If you have decorated a porch carry that same mood in from outside.

Tip 2: Drinks

We all know that Thanksgiving already comes with food. That one is a given. But what about drinks? This is a great opportunity to leverage another decor layout since guests will be most likely drinking a majority of the party. For this reason, having a drink station (or even two, no one will object!) in your home.

This is an easy place to make more festive. Add a pretty tray, cute cocktail napkins, decorative glasses and maybe a pumpkin or two!

Have a bar cart? Bring it out so it's in the center and maybe add some floral that includes mums or matches that porch/entryway you decorated.

Tip 3: Mantle or empty surfaces

If you have a mantle, the fireplace is most likely the focal point in your room. Aim to make this festive and welcoming. The nice thing about a fireplace mantle, is that it's high enough to keep items safe. So if you have a unique glass decor or decor your afraid of breaking this is a great opportunity to add this here. Mantles, are also a great way to make feel more grand with tall candles.

Don't have a mantle? If you have a furniture piece or a unique area of your home to place decor pieces take the moment to add some decor. This can be simple, but continuing that flow from entryway, to bar to main areas your guests will be will make everything feel cohesive.

Naturally don't forget the table. Your guests will be focused on this area because they know they are there to enjoy food. Pumpkins, candles and floral is the perfect place to make a table feel longer, inviting and matching the rest of your decor theme. The key here is to make it inviting, so guests feel warm and comforted eating your meal.

Tip 4: Don't forget the bathroom

Sure you are thinking of this already because it needs to be clean, but it's easy to overlook this room. However, you shouldn't. This is a big traffic area. Since this is a high traffic area, it makes sense to add decorative elements to this space as well.

ree

This doesn't mean just adding a candle on the back of the toilet. I'm talking about cute guest towels, festive soaps, even maybe some cute art you can swap out for the holiday! Cozy it up!

Many people overlook this space when hosting a party, your guest will be impressed that you thought of this area and it's a great finishing touch.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope these tips are helpful, and that you enjoy your holiday festivities!
