Some may have already seen it, but we have exciting news! Clay and I are expecting!! For our fall quarter blog, I figured we'd focus on this exciting news and talk about the cutest room to design of all....nursery!

We are extremely excited, as this is our first. We are so lucky to have such amazing family, friends, and neighbors who gave us such wonderful advice. That being said, we have completely re-shifted our focus for the coming year. Baby M is due in Feb, so we've been working hard to get projects in, and also focus on projects around the house.

That being said, while we originally had planned to focus our time on re-designing our basement. We've now had to add a nursery into the mix. The basement is still slowly being worked on, but with a baby on the brain, we focused our attention these last couple of months on a very special room. We thought we'd share with you all how it turned out, and hopefully, this will help guide any future parents-to-be!

We should state that while we worked on the nursery we did not know the gender. Once this blog is released we will know! We have a gender reveal on the schedule for November :)

(scroll down to see how it went!)

At first, we thought about waiting to find out the gender, but I liked the idea of not knowing. It helped to avoid focusing on gender-specific themes, and instead on themes that were universal.

So what theme did we land on?! Drum roll...

Mountains, stars, and the moon!

We landed on this theme mainly because my husband and I have had a relationship built on adventures. There is a running joke with family and friends, that in order to hang out with Dani and Clay you must make sure to book with them months in advance. We are always on the go. So this theme felt right, to encompass the many adventures we've taken for traveling, boating, and exploring.

That would be my recommendation to you. To pick a theme that embodies your relationship. It's a chance to bond with your baby and show them what family they are growing into!

Okay enough of blabbing on, let's take a look at how it turned out!

  • We kept the wall color we originally had but added in some additional color by painting arches on both bookshelf walls.

  • The bookshelves we made, and decided to flip one over for quick access to clothing we'd be using that day.

  • The nightstand we had, but painted black and added different knobs to fit the theme.

  • The decals are vinyl and I created them with the cricut. This was important as they really helped to encompass the theme we looked to portray. It was my first large vinyl cricut project so I'm happy with how it turned out!

  • We found this cute moon nightlight at Home Goods.

  • The dresser we found on marketplace, and decided to have it as the changing table!

Overall I'm super happy with the way it turned out! We ended up doing a gender reveal this past weekend and found out it's a...

BOY! 🩵🩵🩵

We are so excited, and feel the nursery fits it well! Even if we did try to keep it gender-neutral!

That's our exciting news for this quarter! We are still hard at work kicking out projects, but this project was special, we had to share. Thanks so much for reading about our exciting new addition.

We look forward to connecting after the holidays, we cannot wait for all the new exciting adventures and projects ahead!

From all of us at Central Design we wish you a wonderful holiday season!
