In honor of Valentine's Day we wanted to pick two colors that go underrated in our book! What better time to do a write up on the colors red and pink.

Red and pink seem to get a bad rap in design, mainly because they come off as being challenging to design with. However, used in unique ways they can pull a space together. They can be used in elegant and fun ways. Even to tie a room together.

Let's check out the eye candy shall we!

Elegance

Light pink can make a room feel elegant. Pops of neon color are both a fun but classy way to bring in color to a space. Pink is more then a little girls room anymore, it's a sophisticated accent for any room.

Pop of color

Red and pink shine as pops of color. Red can make a room feel moody, and pink can change the tone of a green room or kitchen to another style all together. Utilize these pops as focal points to your room to give it the character it might of been missing.

Monochromatic

Despite what you may think, red and pink work wonderful in a monochromatic moment. It helps to tone down the punchy color and create a calm and fun moment in different types of rooms. Combining colors with different shades can blend a bright color or create an artistic moment on a wall. Dark lower colors like pops of red and dark pink help to make a space feel larger and ceilings taller.

Tone

The beauty behind pink and red is the shade can change the color completely. A lighter pink comes off elegant, while a deeper red moody and rich. It completely changes the style of a room. Toning down a pink or red color helps to blend it into the space for a supporting role of the room. One of our favorite colors that falls between the two that is making a comeback these days is mauve.

We hope this helped inspired you to start using more red and pink in your space! Wishing you a delightful Valentine's Day from all of us here at Central Design Co.

We hope it's full of chocolate and a little bit of red and pink!
